Treasury Committee report on Women in the City: the Government’s response

On 3 April 2010, the Treasury Committee published the report of its enquiry on Women in the City.  This report is an important contribution to the debate on corporate governance and oversight at financial institutions, and to the wider debate on the under-representation of women in senior positions in the financial services sector.

In addition to its recommendations on the representation of women on boards of financial services institutions, the report made recommendations concerning the gender pay gap which exists in financial services, and how this could be monitored; flexible working practices including parental leave; the effectiveness of tribunal cases; and the role of regulators in promoting equality and eliminating discrimination.

The full Committee report is available on the Parliament website (opens in new window)
